A Word About The Derf West Coast Tour

Mrs G. hasn't mentioned hitting the road to meander the West Coast  the last two weeks of September and conclude her 2011 Derfwad Summer Tour, because she is in a holding pattern. Including her own $400 contribution, she raised $3300 for the 35 days she spent on the road in June/July. Amazingly, she came home with $34 to spare. She lived on a tight budget and, along with the kindness of others, had one of the best times of her life, truly.

She is in a holding pattern because she and Mr. G. are waiting to see if he gets his yearly bonus. If he does, all systems go. If he doesn't Mrs. G. is going to have to push the date a bit because this blog only generates love and laughter, lots and lots of laughter.

Anyway, she'll keep you posted.

Moving On Up...A Little Bloggy Business

Mrs. G. (and Jessie) have been making some blog changes they hope everyone will like. We can try them out for a bit and ditch them if they're a pain in the ass.

First, if you look up below the header, you'll notice some new categories. Next to the Booklog (which will be updated tonight), you'll notice the Derf Assist List. Essentially, this is a message board to help us communicate on specific issues in a more intimate fashion. We're a community and we should be able to talk like one. We can decide how we want to use it and, really, the only rule is to keep it kind, that's it.

Second, next to the Derf Assist List is a category called Whore! No, this is not Mrs. G's autobiography, but rather the spot where she can hawk her Derfwad Manor swag like...

and this (backstory)!

If you don't like it, don't buy it, but if you do buy it, know that it helps pay for blog expenses like hosting fees.

Third, next to Whore! you'll notice a section called Derf Nation and this is Mrs. G's long overdue blogroll. If you would like to be on the blogroll, you must leave the following in the comments section:

1) Your blog's URL

2) Your location

And, finally, Mrs. G. has switched over to the Disqus commenting format. It might take a little getting used to at first, but she thinks you'll like it a lot. If not, we ditch it.

Update: Disqus sucks, so it's ditched.

Dink around a while and see what you think. Don't forget to add yourself to the blogroll if you like (remember: url and location!).

Carry on.

A Little Organizational Helper?

The priceless, folk art cat is counting down the days until she climbs in the car with Mrs. G. Everyone on God's green earth is going to have their picture taken with this treasure whether they want to or not.

The Kansas City Derfs created a Road Trip FB page that is so organized and easy to follow Mrs. G. thought she should create one for the rest of us. She hopes we can use the page to keep track of state specific communication and get togethers.

You can find I AM A DERFWAD SUMMER TOUR 2012 FB page here. Mrs. G. begs strongly encourages you to join the page if you are planning on meeting up because this is a huge organizational undertaking and communicating in one place could really help reduce the number of emails Mrs. G. sends to the wrong people as she has in the past few days.

FB haters, Mrs. G. understands, so just keep emailing her and we'll eventually get all the details worked out. She is currently working with a huge map, post its, a daytimer and a white board so logistic harmony has to kick in at some point, right?

Thank you, you wonderful people, for putting up with all this shit. Mrs. G. promises it will be worth it.

Here's another picture to help ease the pain of one more road trip message.

Barely two, and Mrs. G. was already into the hipster glasses. This was the last year she was able to comfortably wear a hat on her abnormally large head.

This, That and the Other

Intense Spring Tulips on Green

1) There has been a small change in the I AM A Derfwad 2012 Summer Tour schedule. You can find the updated schedule here.

2) Mrs. G's April booklog has been updated. Whatcha reading?

3) Come hell or high water, a new face shot goes up tonight. Mrs. G. is going to Ikea tonight, so maybe she can wrap her face in the Swedish flag.

4) Some derfs having started a Ravelry Group (Ravelry, for those of us here without skillz and/or opposable thumbs, is a knitting and crochet community). You can find the group here once you login.

5) On Wednesdays and Fridays, in lieu of the old Slow Cook Thursdays, Mrs. G. is going to feature a Derf of the Week-- just a photo and few brief lines about your blog or yourself if you are blogless. Interested?  Please send a photo of yourself (or if you are shy, your dog, cat, whatever makes you happy) and a little about you and/or your blog, including it's link. The photo is optional but trust Mrs. G. when she tells you that readers love photos and they are more likely to follow you to your blog when they see your face. Send your stuff to mrs.ggggggggggggggg at gmail dot com. First come, first served.

6) As always, thanks for reading.
