cilantro

 

The New York Times recently published an article explaining the world's conflicting relationship with cilantro, why some people can't get enough of it while others think it tastes like soap. Apparently some people might be genetically predisposed to despise the herb. Julia Child once said that she couldn't abide cilantro or arugula and that if either were served to her in a restaurant, she would pick them out and throw them on the floor.

Mrs. G. had her quarterly appointment with her well meaning, narcissistic psycho-pharmacologist. They analyzed the last four-and-a-half months of Mrs. G’s life in three minutes and spent the remaining seven discussing her doctor’s irritation with the traffic jam outside last night’s opening Seattle Mariner’s game at Safeco Field. They even went a couple of minutes past their allotted ten minutes so that her doctor could lay out his carefully considered solution to the relentless traffic problem: there should be some sort of light rail thing that zips to and from the ballpark. It was a good visit.

Last night Jane Fonda, actor and activist, was on Larry King. King, who appears to have checked out of his body, leaving a bewildered husk behind to conduct a toothless interview, asked Fonda about her plastic surgery. Having made a comment in 2000 insisting she would never go under the knife, she was clearly uncomfortable discussing her change of mind.
