When you went trick or treating as a kid, what was one candy you hated to get? Black licorice anything

2) What is your middle name? Ellen

3) What book or movie have you read/seen lately that you would recommend? OMG, it's been so long since I've read a WHOLE book. Nope, not even a movie. I will never again accept a double teaching load.

4) If you could speak another language fluently, which would you choose? French. It sounds so pretty.

5) Who is your favorite cartoon character? Does Johnny Quest count?

1) When you went trick or treating as a kid, what was one candy you hated to get?
Licorice, Almond Joy or Peter Paul Mounds.

2) What is your middle name?
Ann but like Violet, I always wished it had an "e" on the end. My grandmother's name was May but at some point she changed the spelling to Mae. I didn't know that until after her death or I might have added an "e" to mine.

3) What book or movie have you read/seen lately that you would recommend?
I love Sue Grafton's mysteries and her latest is the last book I've read. I watched "Nebraska" last weekend. It's a good movie and I thoroughly enjoyed it although my son called it dour and depressing. There was one scene I thought was particularly tender and while I can see my son's description of dour and depressing, I also saw redemption and forgiveness.

4) If you could speak another language fluently, which would you choose?
French. I had 2 years in high school but I was too self-conscious to speak and practice in class.

5) Who is your favorite cartoon character?
Gotta go with Snoopy, or Tigger, or maybe these days Eeyore.

3) What book or movie have you read/seen lately that you would recommend? All 10 of this year's best picture nominees. Also, The Goldfinch.

4) If you could speak another language fluently, which would you choose? Spanish.

5) Who is your favorite cartoon character? I have never been a cartoon fan, not even as a kid. Though I did like Schoolhouse Rock.

1) When you went trick or treating as a kid, what was one candy you hated to get? Anything that wasn't chocolate.

2) What is your middle name? Joan

3) What book or movie have you read/seen lately that you would recommend? I just finished Someone by Alice McDermott for book club.

4) If you could speak another language fluently, which would you choose? French. I got fairly fluent when I was younger and I'll bet I could pick it up again with a little study.

5) Who is your favorite cartoon character? With the ads out for the Sherman & Mr. Peabody movie I've been remembering the original Rocky and Bullwinkle show. All the skits were hilarious, and there was a smart, snarky vein of lunacy in that show that set it apart. And TC, I love animation too! Particularly anything by Miazaki. Fabulous art.

1. All hard candy.
2. Leigh, but I would have rather had plain Lee. Never use it, went traditional southern route and dropped it for maiden name when we married.
3. Nothing pops to mind right now.
4. American Sign Language
5. Little Bill and his family, hands down my fav, will watch even without my kids. But as a kid, Buggs Bunny.
