Mrs. G. apologizes for her absence the last couple of weeks. She went to visit family and decided to leave her laptop at home. While many of you have figured out how to write on your phones, Mrs. G. hasn't, not to mention her bear-like paws would produce text like the following:

nowr It thE tyMw furr yWq 3mat

Nobody wins in this situation.

Now, Mrs. G. has to apologizes for her absence in the future. The next few weeks, she has to focus on three important things...

1) Throwing herself passionately into a program that should help her reclaim general health and wellbeing.

2) Finding a job that pays money. A deadline looms.

3) Finishing a book of essays she was invited to submit. A deadline looms.

This blog is not closing and Mrs. G. plans to pop in with stories if she just can't help it. She will continue to put up the Confessional each and every Friday so we can continue to stay in touch on a regular basis. Please stick your head in to say hello even if you usually don't. The book club is still on. Speaking of book club, Mrs. G. was not able to log in to her own blog during the last one due to debit card issues (don't ask). If you are interested in discussing Five Days at Memorial next Sunday at 6:00 PST, Mrs. G. will be there. This book is too intense not to talk about.

Should you want to stay in touch with Mrs. G. through Facebook, feel free to friend her personally. Up above under "Mingle" you can find her personal page. All welcome.

See you in a few weeks, friends!

We'll all be thinking of you as you throw yourself intensely into all three projects and come up smelling like a rose. Did you feel all our powerful thoughts aimed your way today? Big stuff! Watch out. You'll blast your way through it all. We'll just entertain each other while you're busy.

I miss you when you're gone, but I surely understand real life takes over. Those pesky jobs, making a living, eating, they always get in the way. Good luck on all your endeavors and know I will continue to be a loyal Derf.

I was having lunch with a few people who read your blog and we all agreed we are over you. Good luck with your future endeavors. Bye.

Bye Jill.

March 20, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterMrs. G.

Wow, Jill, how rude.

March 20, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterAmy

For real, Jill? Good riddance.

Take care of yourself, Heather. Good luck with all your projects. We'll be waiting, sans Jill.

Interesting. You actually MAKE FRIENDS because of this blog (I suppose you could know each other first...) and now you are 'over it'? Weird.

I saw your pix on FB. I know you were visiting your wonderful daughter. And you went without your laptop?? KUDOS! Good for you. Must have made for some excellent face time with your girl.
I'm still in your corner even if I don't always post.
Went to a Dionne Warwick concert in my early 20's. As the concert was winding down many folks started for the exits. It got so distracting that Dionne stopped mid-song and said, "If you must leave please leave quietly". Jill, I believe this applies to you. No need to grandstand in the comments section. Just don't let the door hit you on your ass on the way out. Best of luck.

xo. may the deadlines inspire, not craze, and congrats on going w/out the laptop, best way to truly get away!

But now I am curious as to what the program in item #1 is!

Book of essays? That sounds awesome. Good luck!

No apologies needed! Yay!! For family time! And YAY!! For these wonderful adventures you're embarking on! You GOT this!!!
As for the book club, I'm reading from the list, but my own schedule doesn't really allow for me to pipe in (plus, I'm getting my books from the library, so I'm not reading necessarily in the same order) - so just so you all know, I'm there in spirit! And yes; what a book Five Days is! Sheesh!
Big big love to you, Mrs G - and all the other Derfs!

Everybody needs to take a little break from time to time. It's healthy! I applaud your ability to balance your own needs with those of your readers!

That said, it's good to see you back!

Good wishes for your projects. Deadlines can be a booger! Happy to read anything you post!

Happy first-day-of-Spring! It felt like it here in Texas. But, we have a "cold" front coming this weekend. Fine by will be 105 soon enough.

March 20, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterKaren

I have made several friends because of you...You do what you need to do.. Your real friends will be here. Even if your book choices make us think too much.

March 20, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterAmy

Oh, honey, I've been taking a break too. It's Spring, it's beautiful and we need to kiss those we love on the cheek and nuzzle. I know to check in, and that you'll post when you're ready.

March 20, 2014 | Unregistered Commenternaomi d

As we say at my house, Well............. buh bye. (that's to Jill)

Even though I don't keep up with each and every post or comment much, for me, once a derf, always a derf!!

You do you Heather. Good luck with all your endeavors. We'll be here.

March 20, 2014 | Unregistered Commenterlisawinks

What ever you do , where ever you go, my best wishes are with you. As long as I can come back here and find something, (i..e. not taken down) then my heart is with you. Fuck these idiots that have nasty things to say. You know who those are that love you, cherish you and care about you. I am one of them, and I stand strong! Do what you need to do and know that those that love you will always be with you.

Hey Jill, surprised you had room for lunch with all that bitch you've got going on inside. Keep it klassy!

March 20, 2014 | Unregistered Commenterkathy

Good luck on your projects! You don't owe us an explanation - or anything, really - but I'm glad to know it's an abundance of good things and a lack of time rather than anything bad.

Although I kind of was hoping it was Fiji and a shirtless Johnny Depp.... :)

March 20, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterTC

It sounds like your life is FULL! Brava for visiting sans laptop. I'm all for those extended breaks, anyway, but especially when you're with your loved ones.
Good luck with your deadlines.

Love everything about you and this place, Mrs. G. Won't be going anywhere. Take the time you need!

It takes absolutely NO time to pop in and check on you and all the Derfs.....when there isn't a post....I'm sad for a second....but certainly never mad! Life is out there and you must live it! That said....I'll bet you "Jill" is checking in and won't be able to stop checking, because the truth is, Mrs. G's writings are delightful. Mrs. are the butter to our bread! Tackle your tasks and come back when you can! Love you!

March 21, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterDiane Carol

Good luck with your projects - you know we'll be rooting for you! As for Jill, you KNOW she's checking - only someone who needs attention - doesn't matter whether it's good or bad as long as it's there - posts crap like that. So here's a little more for you, sweetie.

And hey, I've not only found friends through this blog, I found a family member!!

March 21, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterBriget

Oooh, just heard from my library that Five Days at Memorial is being held for me at my local branch!

March 21, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterAunt Snow

That's a lot of deadlines, but how exciting that you are writing a book! Good luck!

March 21, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterPatience

I agree with all of the above (except Jill) - great that you got away! :) I, too, will always read what you write. You are an exceptional writer. Actually, you are an exceptional person.

Jill must be very lonely and sad when you aren't around. If she was so angry at your lack of posts that she had to discuss it with her friends and conclude that they were "over you" because you were too busy to post... what a sad life. If she was so "over you" she wouldn't have even noticed you posed something new. So we all know she will be back - certainly to see how many people commented about her desperate cry for attention.

Good luck with all of your deadlines!

March 21, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterKatie

I'm poking my head glad that you got to spend time with family. Maybe the essays could turn into a paid job! Writing is what you are meant to do , you make even the grocery list sound interesting..we will be here when you get back.

I will be thinking of you and all your projects. Looking forward to the random questions on Wednesdays. Not sure why I love those so much. Even when I have nothing interesting to say, I love to read all the answers. Hang in there, or hang out, whatever does it for you! I'll keep checking in :)

March 24, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterSalty Mama

That's a tall order, but I am sure you will get 'er done! Thinking good thoughts for some productive weeks.

April 1, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterJenn @ Juggling Life

Mrs. G, I am way late with commenting on this post, but I wanted to come out of lurkdom long enough to wave hello. I (and probably many others like me) stop by every so often to see what you've written and catch up. You're brilliant. And always make me laugh. I've commented a few times over the years, but mostly I just absorb your genius. You not only make me laugh, you make me think. Please know you're missed by those of us who don't speak up much here, but we miss you all the same. Have a splendid Spring!
