Good Shit: The Antidote to Shame is Empathy
Friday, March 16, 2012 at 10:50PM
Mrs. G. Mrs. G's friend Laura linked this on Facebook and Mrs. G watched it three times. So much of what Brene Brown discusses is eerily relevant to what is currently being shared and addressed in the Confessional Mrs. G. felt compelled to share it. Mrs. G. has always known this in her gut, but the amazing Ms. Brown beautifully articulates and validates the notion that simply being heard, simply hearing someone else say Me too is a powerful uniter.

Oh...I love Brene...explore her website...buy her books...she is amazing...her thoughts just blow me away...good stuff!
The essence of blogging, really...
Why is it that these universal feelings feel so singular? Good talk.
Tears. Smiles. Understanding. Wow....
I've met Brene and she's spoken to our school district several times. The last time she came through town signing books, she charmed Max's socks off. She is absolutely and totally the real deal.
Pure awesome, and just what I needed.
I am in love with the TED talks--I am using some science ones in my current events in school.
This was wonderful.
Mrs. G, you have my undying gratitude for introducing me to Brené. I am deeply moved.
.... and now I am crying. Me too.
I wept.....
Spot on.....
And I am sharing this with my girls......
Thank you
Wow.
This is how I see Derfwad Manor, when I look at it in a science nerd sort of way: sharing and honesty and yes, even shame that is covered in empathy. Thank you, Heather, for Weekend Witness and the Confessional, and the entire atmosphere of this place where we can be there and listen to each other and lift each other up.
I listened/watched this 3 times so far. This will be one of the TED talks that stays in rotation on my ipod. I will now really try to do the things that she says. It all makes such sense....
Thanks for showing it to me.
Wonderful. Beautiful. Thank you. I need to look for this woman's books.
Thanks for sharing this video. She's great.
You know.....Mrs. G?.....I've come back and listenend again. I've sent this to my daughters. After a particulary stressful day and a bit of reavaluating....it is a most relevent post. Thanks.....and yes, there were STILL tears (because I said "hey you....this IS YOU").... TED needs to be on the nightly frickin news.....on a loop......really......and maybe in the House, and Senate, and the Oval Office. They ALL need to listen (again, and again)....just sayin.....
