1) What is one item that you really should throw away, but probably never will? My kids' baby teeth. I know. It's so gross.
2) When you were a kid, what were two of your favorite chapter books? Anne of Green Gables and The Secret Garden
3) Favorite ice cream flavor? Mint Chocolate Chip
4) What celebrity do you think would be a great date? What celebrity do you think would be a lousy date? I think George Clooney would be great. He seems like a lot of fun. Edward Norton just seems too full of himself to be fun.
5) When has a lie come back to bite you? When I was 5 and I stole a pack of gum from the grocery store. My mom was pissed. She took me back to the store and made me confess to the cashier. It was awful. But I haven't stolen anything since.
6) Did you ever let your sibling take the blame for something you did? Do tell. Probably. I don't remember details of any one thing, but if you asked my brothers...
7) Who was your scariest teacher? Sr. Louis Marie. I had her for 5th grade Math. I was terrified of her. I think I still am, actually.
8) Favorite Hangout? My living room couch.
1) What is one item that you really should throw away, but probably never will? A comforter Grandma made for me when I went to college in 1977 that is falling apart but it's been with me through so many things and I can see Grandma and my mom, both who are gone now, making it at Grandma's kitchen table.
2) When you were a kid, what were two of your favorite chapter books? The Boxcar Children, Cherry Ames
3) Favorite ice cream flavor? Baskin Robbins Peanut Butter and Chocolate.
4) What celebrity do you think would be a great date? What celebrity do you think would be a lousy date? Great date....Sam Elliott, Stedman Graham, Lester Holt....Lousy date..........David Letterman,
5) When has a lie come back to bite you? I told a friend I "forgot" about an event. She called me on it...and we are still friends.
6) Did you ever let your sibling take the blame for something you did? Do tell. I am sure I did, she probably deserved it though!
7) Who was your scariest teacher? Mrs Grabau, fifth grade, she was tough but amazing. She left a legacy of students who respected her when she died at 100.
8) Favorite Hangout? My patio or driveway in the summer, where I can talk to the neighbors and watch the kids. A couple great local pizza places.
1) What is one item that you really should throw away, but probably never will? I am not a packrat at all, so if I keep it there's probably a good reason to hang on to it.
2) When you were a kid, what were two of your favorite chapter books? There were so very many, but I did dearly love All-of-a-Kind-Family.
3) Favorite ice cream flavor? Pecan Praline
4) What celebrity do you think would be a great date? What celebrity do you think would be a lousy date? I can't imagine George Clooney being anything but fun. I wouldn't want to go out with Angelina Jolie because I like to eat on a date.
5) When has a lie come back to bite you? I don't think I've lied since I was a kid--my mother taught we early "O! What a tangled web we weave . . ."
6) Did you ever let your sibling take the blame for something you did? Do tell. My sister never would have done that.
7) Who was your scariest teacher? Dorothy Parker in second grade. When she got frustrated (which was often) she raked her blood red fingernails on the chalkboard.
8) Favorite Hangout? Does my family room count? How about my neighbor's porch? I don't go out much!
We got TWO chapter books?! Put the Little House books on my list.
1) What is one item that you really should throw away, but probably never will?
I'm with AmyG - still have all my kids baby teeth. And yes, it is kind of gross and rather maternal, both at the same time.
2) When you were a kid, what were two of your favorite chapter books?
Blue Castle (also by L.M. Montgomery) and Mary Poppins (the real one, not the Disney one).
3) Favorite ice cream flavor?
Pralines and cream.
4) What celebrity do you think would be a great date? What celebrity do you think would be a lousy date?
Robert Downey Jr. Seems like he would be bad ass enough to be fun.
Christopher Walken always seems to be a little too uptight to be fun. Maybe he'd surprise me, who knows?
5) When has a lie come back to bite you?
Lying to one man about the other kind of got me in trouble.
6) Did you ever let your sibling take the blame for something you did? Do tell.
Likely. But I really can't remember.
7) Who was your scariest teacher?
My grade one teacher. Especially when she came back in grade four. And then they bought the house next to our family house. Still there to this day...and she is still kind scary (and judgmental. And I'm over 50.)
8) Favorite Hangout?
In the house? The left hand chair in the living room. Especially in the winter, with a cat on my lap and a good book or knitting to keep me company.
Away from my house? Our summer cottage. Off the grid, away from the world. Nothing like it.
1) What is one item that you really should throw away, but probably never will?
A couple of positive pregnancy tests
2) When you were a kid, what were two of your favorite chapter books?
From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler and any of the Ramona books (That's kind of cheating, I know....but I can't narrow it down!)
3) Favorite ice cream flavor?
Ben & Jerry's Triple Brownie Fudge
4) What celebrity do you think would be a great date? What celebrity do you think would be a lousy date?
For a great date, I'd have to go with Patrick Dempsey.....Lousy Date--forgive me Mrs. G, this is the worst thing I've ever said on here (and that's saying A LOT!) but I'm going with Johnny Depp. I loved, loved, loved him in 21 Jump Street, but ever since he's just a little too creepy for me. It's either him or Dr. Oz--creepy in a different way.
5) When has a lie come back to bite you?
In college this guy I had no interest in asked me out on a date. I told him I was going home that weekend (I wasn't.) Who do you think I saw in the breezeway that weekend?
6) Did you ever let your sibling take the blame for something you did? Do tell
Yep....I was running through the house and knocked off a ceramic figurine from the front table. (It was either a duck or the baby Jesus, I can't remember.) I didn't really blame it on my 4 year old sister, but I didn't exactly come forward when my mom was yelling at her.
7) Who was your scariest teacher?
11th grade/Algebra II teacher. Not really scary (well, sort of) but downright mean.
8) Favorite Hangout?
Since we're usually too tired to go anywhere and babysitters are expensive, I'm going to have to say my living room couch when the kids are asleep. Either that, or our bedroom when the kids are asleep (wink wink)
1) What is one item that you really should throw away, but probably never will?
My blanket from when I was a little kid. It's got holes worn through it, it's been repaired multiple times, and it's been sitting in a box for years. But I think I'm going to keep it forever.
2) When you were a kid, what were two of your favorite chapter books?
Stormy, Misty's Foal by Marguerite Henry
The Black Stallion by Walter Farley
I was your stereotypical horse crazy little girl.
3) Favorite ice cream flavor?
Chocolate chip mint. Are you buying?
4) What celebrity do you think would be a great date? What celebrity do you think would be a lousy date?
I really never know how to answer questions like these because I'm just so not into the celebrity culture. I don't watch much TV, hardly ever go to movies, I watched the Oscars for the fashion and had to keep looking up the names because I had no idea who most of them were.
The French actor who won best actor was utterly charming in the red carpet interview, so he might be fun to spend an evening with. He probably knows a good restaurant or two, too. As for lousy...pretty much any of the under 30 set. Most of them need a shower and a shave and to learn to dress properly. Yeah, I'm getting old.
5) When has a lie come back to bite you?
Far too often. It's why I try to avoid lying whenever possible. Next question.
6) Did you ever let your sibling take the blame for something you did? Do tell.
Not that I can remember.
7) Who was your scariest teacher?
Most of my gym teachers. They were ineffective at stopping the other little snots from bullying me because I was not athletic - mostly because most of them were bullies themselves. This is why I thought I hated movement until I was in my late 30s. Thanks, guys. You sucked.
8) Favorite Hangout?
Probably in front of the computer.
Mr. Elephant - a small blue stuffed rattle that someone gave to my first baby. I just cannot let it go.
I loved to read The Little Princess - we're listening to it now in the car, what fun!
And I always preferred strawberry ice cream, and now one of my kids (Brian) does, too. In fact, he does the exact same thing I do - he looks at the long list of ice cream flavors and considers trying them and then orders strawberry. Oh, I love that.
1). Couldn't think of anything until I saw Amy's reply about the teeth. Yup, me too.
2) When you were a kid, what were two of your favorite chapter books? Any Nancy Drew or Bobbsey Twins book
3) Favorite ice cream flavor? Starbuck's Mocha Almond Fudge Swirl

5) When has a lie come back to bite you? I'm a lousy liar...so pretty much every time.
6) Did you ever let your sibling take the blame for something you did? My two younger brothers were the blamers, I was the blamee.
7) Who was your scariest teacher? Miss Doccolo. Sixth grade. I drew a picture of her as a Nazi and then left my book behind in her class. Awkward and terrifying.
8) Favorite Hangout? Around my aunt's dining room table with all my cousins.
1) What is one item that you really should throw away, but probably never will?
Half my wardrobe
2) When you were a kid, what were two of your favorite chapter books?
Loretta Mason Potts and the Trixie Belden books
3) Favorite ice cream flavor?
Is such a thing as a bad ice cream flavor?
4) What celebrity do you think would be a great date? What celebrity do you think would be a lousy date?
I would love to go out with Eric Stonestreet from Modern Family. I would not love to go out with Robert Deniro.
5) When has a lie come back to bite you?
One that comes to mind is running into a friend in a parking lot and her asking me what I was doing that night. I told her nothing even though I was having dinner with a mutual friend. Well naturally the two talked that afternoon and in attempt to not make the first friend feel badly, I just made it worse and had to call her and explain why I had been such an ass.
6) Did you ever let your sibling take the blame for something you did? Do tell. n/a
7) Who was your scariest teacher? Mrs. Sharp in third grade. Perfectly named.
8) Favorite Hangout?
Chair in front of my fireplace
1) What is one item that you really should throw away, but probably never will? The umbilical cords of my sons. I also have their baby teeth and the positive pregnancy test sticks. How gross is that?!
2) When you were a kid, what were two of your favorite chapter books? The Cricket in Times Square and The Black Stallion
3) Favorite ice cream flavor? Ben and Jerry's doesn't make Sweet Georgia Peach anymore. Sigh. However, Willie Nelson's Country Peach Cobbler comes pretty close.
4) What celebrity do you think would be a great date? What celebrity do you think would be a lousy date? Even though he's about ten years younger, I would love to date Justin Timberlake. Watching him on SNL is one of my greatest joys! It would be a blast. Clive Owen and Will Ferrell would be fun. I probably would tell Billy Bob Thornton that I needed to wash my hair.
5) When has a lie come back to bite you? I've never told a lie, lol.
6) Did you ever let your sibling take the blame for something you did? Do tell. As an only child, I blamed a lot of things on the dog.
7) Who was your scariest teacher? Miss Jan, in preschool, smelled like cheeseburgers. Maybe because she didn't wash very often. Her odor scared me!
8) Favorite Hangout? The Kitchen when I'm at home. The porch of a beach house rental in North Carolina for a week in the summer. When I'm in a rocking chair, surrounded by my family and ocean air, I never want for anything. Except maybe cold, alcoholic drinks.
1) What is one item that you really should throw away, but probably never will? My Grandmother's egg timer. I will never, ever throw it out.
2) When you were a kid, what were two of your favorite chapter books? "Are you there God? It's me Margaret" and "Gone with the Wind". If it makes anyone feel better, I minored in Literature in college. The quality of books got better.
3) Favorite ice cream flavor? Chocolate
4) What celebrity do you think would be a great date? What celebrity do you think would be a lousy date? Meh. Not interested. I think that they all seem self-absorbed.
5) When has a lie come back to bite you? I told one about 2 weeks go and I know it's coming back to bite me. Any day now. It's stressing me out but coming clean would make me look like even more of an idiot.
6) Did you ever let your sibling take the blame for something you did? Do tell. Never. Our circumstances were such that I protected them not directed blame. I can't say that the favor was returned. No, not bitter at all.
7) Who was your scariest teacher? 8th Grade nun. I don't know that she was scary but she was a mean, judgmental, nasty piece of work. I have been educated by many, many wonderful, and even groundbreaking, nuns but she was not worthy of the title.
8) Favorite Hangout? When time allows, it's with my best girlfriends over coffee. Otherwise, it's curled up in my bed with a book.
1) What is one item that you really should throw away, but probably never will?
My old baby doll that I received when I was 2 or 3 years old-- she was well-loved and not in good shape, but too much a part of my childhood to get rid of (although she is in a box in the garage now)
2) When you were a kid, what were two of your favorite chapter books?
The Little House books (Laura Ingalls Wilder) and the Hardy Boys mysteries
3) Favorite ice cream flavor?
Pralines-n-Cream
4) What celebrity do you think would be a great date? What celebrity do you think would be a lousy date?
Great: Collin Firth
Lousy: Dr. Oz ... he'd be too interested in talking about our colonoscopies!
5) When has a lie come back to bite you?
Too many times! One in particular haunts me, lying to my 5th grade teacher. I still have guilt pangs over that one.
6) Did you ever let your sibling take the blame for something you did? Do tell.
My younger brother & I flushed a bunch of toilet paper/kleenex/paper towels and stopped up the only toilet for our family of six. He still remembers that I "let" him take the blame (oh, the sins of omission!) A few Christmases ago, one of his kids did the same thing at his own home... I was far away and not to blame!
7) Who was your scariest teacher?
Elementary school PE teacher... he overheard me complaining about push-ups and chewed me out in front of everyone while we were in push-up position. Any wonder why my kids do push-ups for punishment?
8) Favorite Hangout?
On the couch, feet up, with my laptop -- "There's no place like home!"
What is one item that you really should throw away, but probably never will? The tshirt I wore when I left Australia which is the same tshirt I wore when I birthed both my babies. I have told CK he should bury me in it. Of course we would now have to dig it out of the back of the cupboard somewhere.
2) When you were a kid, what were two of your favorite chapter books? Anne of Green Gables and The Famous Five.
3) Favorite ice cream flavor? Lemon gelati
4) What celebrity do you think would be a great date? What celebrity do you think would be a lousy date? Great date would be Dara O'Briain or Stephen Fry. Lousy date would be Frankie Boyle (stupid Scottish comedian who thinks that being mean and confrontational is funny).
5) When has a lie come back to bite you? Not sure, undoubtedly something when I was a kid.
6) Did you ever let your sibling take the blame for something you did? Do tell. Not that I can think of ... am I the only Derf with limited recollection of anything before the age of about 11?
7) Who was your scariest teacher? None of them really scared me as such but Mrs Jose (evil ratty-looking PE teacher who had spent too long out in the sun and was all dried out) hated me and my sister. Mrs Hempenstall (I think she taught History or Geography) would probably have to be the scariest of them all. You might say I was a teacher's nightmare in secondary school - enough brain but too much chat and too little work and not much fear of authority.
8) Favorite Hangout? My hilltop town or the beach at my mother's house.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/trashalou/4046080035/in/photostream
1) What is one item that you really should throw away, but probably never will?
Hmmm...every ugly present I received.
What if the giver(s) ask where they are? Huh? Huh? What will I say?
2) When you were a kid, what were two of your favorite chapter books?
Hans Christian Andersons Stories
...and anything by Enid Blyton.
I soooo wanted to climb the Faraway Tree.
3) Favorite ice cream flavor?
Macadamia
4) What celebrity do you think would be a great date? What celebrity do you think would be a lousy date?
Any comedian
Any Kardashion
5) When has a lie come back to bite you?
Don't remember one that I told.
I did have an old friend who was going on a holiday to Canada.
I saw her after the trip and asked how it went.
Got told an eleborate list of lovely experiences.
Found out later the trip was cancelled and she never went...at all.
What the...? I still don't unbderstand that one.
6) Did you ever let your sibling take the blame for something you did? Do tell.
No...but what a good idea.
7) Who was your scariest teacher?
Year 10 Maths teacher who shall be nameless. He used to walk around the classroom, and if you weren't paying attention he would bang his hand down on the desk, hard. It used to scare the begeesus out of me.
8) Favorite Hangout?
The couch...is that wrong?
1) What is one item that you really should throw away, but probably never will?
My garage is full of crap. Every June the wife flies off to a family reunion. I secretly go out and cram the car as full as possible and take it to the county dump. The wife is a bit of a.....pack rat. Me? Well, I am one of those childish men with a large number of tee shirts. My drawers are full but I had to get a new Snoopy and a new Mickey Mouse tee shirt yesterday....so, yeah, I have my junk too :)
2) When you were a kid, what were two of your favorite chapter books?
I blogged this yesterday: A CRICKET IN TIMES SQUARE! Recently reread. Holy cats, my favorite book EVER. I read it when I was about 6, and we lived in Connecticut like the cricket and we visited my grandparents and took the subway, like he does in the book...plus illustrated by AWESOME Garth Williams, plus now, of course, I have a grey tiger like Harry cat in the book :)
3) Favorite ice cream flavor?
Well, dairy allergy, BUT I can get this awesome sundae down at Purity Ice Cream in Ithaca...which claims to have invented sundaes, and get the chocolate soy with peanut butter sauce that is pretty flippin' awesome.
4) What celebrity do you think would be a great date? What celebrity do you think would be a lousy date?
5) When has a lie come back to bite you?
I am as honest as the day is long ;)
6) Did you ever let your sibling take the blame for something you did? Do tell.
NO. Those miserable rotten individuals always blamed ME for everything. I was the youngest by far. The fact that I DID do most of the naughty sh!t around the house does not make up for being blamed for everything ;)
7) Who was your scariest teacher?
I did not like school too much, if I was paying attention to it at all.
8) Favorite Hangout?
Well, until I had a fight with C____ the semi-homeless crazy bum, I would bein the Chapterhouse bar every week at least once....not since that crazy fucher tried to pick a fight with me....one day he will be dead or in China and I can safely go back to the Chapterhouse...
OH! I missed number 4, the date. And let me remark, if I can do so politely without offending the 99 percent here who are women...your books are all famous, but I don't think I have read any of them. Kind of what I would have thought of as girls' books when I was little, you know? Gosh, the things I missed!
BUT, OK, I have a BRO-mance with Clooney as you can imagine, so #4, the date? I saw an article somewhere, which visited Clooney's house, and he is this suave friendly guy who likes to have his friends over for beers and a little basketball in the sun. I am not tall, I do not know anything about basketball, but fuch YEAH! I wanna play basketball with Clooney and his pals!
In reality, of course, a replay of last week with the wife would be flippin' awesome: Friday Thai noodles after she gets out of work with frosty brews and then, well, going to see THE DESCENDANTS...speaking of Clooney....the wife makes an excellent date, at all times :)
1) What is one item that you really should throw away, but probably never will? Some wedding photos
2) When you were a kid, what were two of your favorite chapter books? The Secret Garden, From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler
3) Favorite ice cream flavor? Most peanut butter and chocolate combos
4) What celebrity do you think would be a great date? What celebrity do you think would be a lousy date? Such decisions so early in the morning! I wouldn't say no to Clooney or Mark Walhberg. I'd probably be annoyed with Matthew Mcconaughey.
5) When has a lie come back to bite you? likely, yes.
6) Did you ever let your sibling take the blame for something you did? Do tell. Nope - always got caught - or told on
7) Who was your scariest teacher? Mrs. Larson still seems a little scary 40 years later...
8) Favorite Hangout? Right now? My cozy sofa.
Just read all the responses and now I don't feel bad about my couch response. Apparently derfs love their couches.
...and ditto on the baby teeth and pregnancy tests.
I told my teen she could have hers...'caus I'm giving like that.
The recoil when I told her I peed on it was hysterical.
1) What is one item that you really should throw away, but probably never will? The instructions that came with my spanx.

2) When you were a kid, what were two of your favorite chapter books?
Anne of Green Gables
The Ship that Flew
3) Favorite ice cream flavor?
Caramel cashew chocolate chip (amazing - at my local ice cream shop)
4) What celebrity do you think would be a great date? What celebrity do you think would be a lousy date?
Armand Gamache from Louise Penny's Three Pines mystery novels would make a wonderful dinner companion.
The lousy dates ... there are probably far to many to name.
5) When has a lie come back to bite you?
Can't think of one now, but I'm sure there are a few.
6) Did you ever let your sibling take the blame for something you did? Do tell.
As often as possible when I was a kid...and they did the same. Now we are get along pretty well.
7) Who was your scariest teacher?
Grade one...Mrs. Melko - yikes!
8) Favorite Hangout?
These days, Panera's with a cup of hazelnut coffee and my kid with a chocolate milk. Great place to have "talks".
1) What is one item that you really should throw away, but probably never will?
A couple of stuffed animals from my childhood, discovered when cleaning out my family home after dad died. I didn't realize mom had saved them all those years, and so I couldn't let them go either.
2) When you were a kid, what were two of your favorite chapter books?
Misty of Chincoteague
Black Beauty
3) Favorite ice cream flavor?
Right now I'm kind of digging Moose Tracks.
4) What celebrity do you think would be a great date? What celebrity do you think would be a lousy date?
Great: Neil deGrasse Tyson, not your typical celebrity but a pretty fun guy for an astrophysicist.
Lousy: Just about any Hollywood celebrity, I would imagine.
5) When has a lie come back to bite you?
Can't think of any specific examples, guess I've been mostly lucky. Or maybe it's just that no one has bothered to call me out on one.
6) Did you ever let your sibling take the blame for something you did? Do tell.
Oh yeah, like my parents could ever believe my brother was capable of doing anything wrong? Pleeeeze, he was perfect! Don't think I ever really tried; however, I was quite the tattle-tale. And usually got into more trouble for that than anything.
7) Who was your scariest teacher?
Mrs. Wong, 4th grade. She was legendary-scary, people from my hometown still talk about her. Mrs. Wong was a small woman with a loud, booming voice, known for inflicting occasional corporal punishment. I personally watched her grab fellow students (usually boys) by one ear and drag them to the front of the room, where she put them on display while she berated and/or slapped them.
8) Favorite Hangout?
I love to hangout in my jammies in our bedroom, with the laptop and a cookie.
Oh, did you mean out in the world? There is a nice place called BJ's Brewhouse where we go frequently for a beer and conversation. For some reason, we always end up talking politics at this place. Might be the beer...
1) What is one item that you really should throw away, but probably never will? Just one?!? The tiny plastic top hats and canes that were prom favors or decorations at my senior prom. Dh and I went to prom together, so we have two sets. They just keep moving around. I also have buckets and buckets and buckets of river glass.

3) Favorite ice cream flavor? Edy's Grand Girl Scout Edition Samoa
4) What celebrity do you think would be a great date? What celebrity do you think would be a lousy date? Most of those people just don't seem real to me, so I've never considered who might make a good or bad date. They're nice to look at, though. Maybe James Franco would be a good date. It seems I've read he's intelligent and interesting. But who knows?
5) When has a lie come back to bite you? I can't remember. I've mostly only told little white lies and not too many of those. Any lie I've ever told made me feel tremendously guilty, though, so you could say that was the lie coming back to bite me.
6) Did you ever let your sibling take the blame for something you did? I don't think so. He was usually the one who did it! Plus, see the above answer. I hate to think someone would even *think* I lied. I didn't even grow up Catholic, but I have a major guilty conscience that keeps me in check. (No offense to Catholics. My mom was raised Catholic and went to Catholic schools. Her stories are the basis of my comment.)
7) Who was your scariest teacher? Teachers always liked me--except Mrs. Schwarz. She was an evil old woman who gave me my only detention ever (for a peck on the cheek from dh in the hallway or PDA, as it was known). I didn't even feel sorry for her when Mike Henschen made her cry.
8) Favorite Hangout? I like to take walks in our woods and down to the gravel bar on our stretch of the river (where I collect too much glass).
1) What is one item that you really should throw away, but probably never will?

2) When you were a kid, what were two of your favorite chapter books?
I loved Little Women and Nancy Drew.
3) Favorite ice cream flavor?
Java chip!
4) What celebrity do you think would be a great date? What celebrity do you think would be a lousy date?
-pass
5) When has a lie come back to bite you?
I seldom lie, it's usually the truth that bites me on the ass!
6) Did you ever let your sibling take the blame for something you did? Do tell.
No way, even if I didn't do it, I got blamed.
7) Who was your scariest teacher?
Russian History with Mr. Melbach. He was a very pale yellow haired man who wore clogs in the 80s. Sweet Jesus, the man would throw his shoes and once turned his desk over when we all did poorly on a test. He was very scary.
8) Favorite Hangout?
Homebody here....my house!
1) What is one item that you really should throw away, but probably never will? My cards, letters, old sweatshirt, and pictures from my first true love in High School. We are still friends today and he will always hold a sweet, special place in my heart.

3) Favorite ice cream flavor? anything with caramel, toffee bits, and chocolate
4) What celebrity do you think would be a great date? What celebrity do you think would be a lousy date? Johnny Depp would be an awesome date I think!!! Just staring at him across a candlelit table while sipping some wine would be perfect. There doesn't even need to be conversation. Although that would be a plus!! I think Russell Brand would be a horrific date.
5) When has a lie come back to bite you? I lied to my employer when I was 16 about having a sick mom and I couldn't come to work. I was actually at the mall with a friend that was visiting from Florida, which my mom didn't know about. A couple of days later when I went back into work they told me I was fired because my mom had called on that day and asked when she needed to pick me up from work. I had to walk home in the blistering summer heat. It was probably about 4-5 miles and I cried the whole way.
6) Did you ever let your sibling take the blame for something you did? Do tell. I'm sure I did being the oldest of 4 children, but nothing specific comes to mind at that moment.
7) Who was your scariest teacher? Toss up between Mr. Calhoun in 5th grade or Mr. Meddleton in 11th grade. Both were horrendous human beings.

6) Did you ever let your sibling take the blame for something you did? Do tell. Can't recall this either.

I think Conan OBrian would be funny for a minute or two, but quickly fade to annoying.
5) When has a lie come back to bite you?
Trying to bluff a professor that a project was ready to go, I was invited to take the podium.
6) Did you ever let your sibling take the blame for something you did? Do tell.
Yup. Messed up my mothers favorite brooch. No one fessed up, so my mother in a fit of rage lined up all three of us. I let my older brother who was cruel and abusive take a good whipping before I fessed. Wouldn't have let my little brother take one, but to my advantage she started on the oldest. I still got a whipping, but I felt him getting one was a free-be.
7) Who was your scariest teacher?
Mrs Motel, 2cnd grade. Ancient in 1983, but suprisingly strong.... Firmly believed in birthday spankings, and by spankings we mean ass beatings in school in front of kids. Never so grateful for a summer birthday. Made up for all the years I couldn't bring cupcakes. Not that my Mom would have made cupcakes.
8) Favorite Hangout?
Need a new one. My old one used to be a wonderful microbrewery in our neighborhood with a family friendly tap room. No one got drunk, families came, great beer and conversation. Miss it something fierce!
1) My children's "lost" teeth.
2) Henry & Ramona, Betsy, Tacy & Tibb
3) Butter Brickle
4) George Clooney. Le sigh. Vince Vaughn seems like a real tool.
5) I omitted telling my parents about bringing my MIL to Disney World. They found out. The fallout has lasted over 4 years now.
6) Not that I recall. She was 4 years younger, so we had little to do with one another.
7) My college professor who taught "The Promethean Myth." He looked like a vampire and actually wore a black cape.
8) Copper Rock Coffee Shop.
1) What is one item that you really should throw away, but probably never will? I have lots of old stuffed animals from when I was a kid. They're in pretty rough shape but I can't throw them away.

4) What celebrity do you think would be a great date? What celebrity do you think would be a lousy date? George Clooney and I will be spending this summer at our villa in Italy. I think Tom Cruise would be a hideous date.

6) Did you ever let your sibling take the blame for something you did? Do tell. I'm sure I did. It probably didn't work though...see answer above.
7) Who was your scariest teacher? Surprisingly the teacher with a hook for a hand was NOT the scariest. That title would go to Mrs. Roach (yes, real name) the kindergarden teacher from hell.
8) Favorite Hangout? A canoe in the Boundary Waters of Minnesota.
I should add that the canoe is also George Clooney's favorite hangout in the states.
1) What is one item that you really should throw away, but probably never will? Too many to count!

5) When has a lie come back to bite you? When I was in 8th grade, I told a girl I had a horse, cause I wanted her to like me. Eventually she found out I didn't have one and that was that...I'm sure she thought I was weird for telling the lie in the first place.
6) Did you ever let your sibling take the blame for something you did? Do tell. I don't think so, lol, he was always worse than me!
7) Who was your scariest teacher? Life!
8) Favorite Hangout? In the 80s, I used to go to this club called The Raft. Three, sometimes 4 nights a week. I knew lots of folks there, the music was awesome, I LOVED it! Now? I like to hang out with Dave, so wherever we are, that's my favorite :-)
Okay, I remembered when a lie came back to bite me. I was too inexperienced in how to turn a man down gracefully but honestly for a date when a co-worker (at a summer job during college) asked me out. I told him I was dating someone because I didn't want to hurt his feelings by telling him I just wasn't interested in him. Turns out he had tried to cover his bases ahead of time by asking a female co-worker whether I was dating anyone and of course she told him no. Ouch.
1) What is one item that you really should throw away, but probably never will? A pair of John Fluevog slingback sandals that don't fit, will never fit, will never be worn, but they're just too cute.
2) When you were a kid, what were two of your favorite chapter books? Jane Langton's "The Diamond in the Window" and "The Swing in the Summerhouse."
3) Favorite ice cream flavor? Breyer vanilla. Where you can see the specks of vanilla bean.
4) What celebrity do you think would be a great date? What celebrity do you think would be a lousy date? I think George Clooney would be a great date. He'd be courteous, witty, gentlemanly, and show you a nice time. A lousy date? There are too many to choose from, because what makes a lousy date is a self-absorbed person, and there are an awful lot of famous people who fit that description.
5) When has a lie come back to bite you? Oh, lord. Too often to count.
6) Did you ever let your sibling take the blame for something you did? Do tell. Not exactly, but I've certainly failed to own up myself as quickly as I should.
7) Who was your scariest teacher? I don't remember her name, but she was my 7th grade history teacher and she did NOT like me.
8) Favorite Hangout? Right now? My home.

Little Women, and any of the the LIttle House books.
3) Favorite ice cream flavor?
Usually Edy's French Silk.
4) What celebrity do you think would be a great date? What celebrity do you think would be a lousy date?
George Clooney filmed a movie nearby years ago. I avoided the action when they were here, but now I'm sorry I did. Everyone who met him said he was wonderful and a gentlemen. Same for Mark Wahlburg (though I hear that his whole family were real stinkers growing up). Ben Affleck is someone whose company I would probably not enjoy. He's annoying and I'd probably not get a word in edgewise.
5) When has a lie come back to bite you?
I can't think of anything specific, but there was one time I was dating two guys with the same first name who didn't know about each other. One of them sent me roses.
6) Did you ever let your sibling take the blame for something you did? Do tell.
I'm sure that this happened, but it was usually the other way around.
7) Who was your scariest teacher?
Ugh, where do I start? I went to Catholic School and a Catholic college for a short time. There was the principal of the lower school who dragged me into the closet and tried to smother me with coats, and there was the college "advisor" years later. I remember asking her point blank why she considered it her job to make every one of her students cry. My name is Lisse, I have an authority problem. Related: nuns tend to hate me on sight.
8) Favorite Hangout?
My favorite hangout got bought out a number of years ago and made into a higher end restaurant. It's also nice, but I miss the pluffy couches, and the germy toys scattered about for the toddlers whose moms just need to get out of the house. It was a nice place to be and I miss it. I sometimes wish I had the patience for the restaurant business so I could create something like that in my own neighborhood. As it is, I'm limited to Starbucks and Panera. Bleah.
1) What is one item that you really should throw away, but probably never will? My favorite t-shirt from when I was 6. Seriously. It's in a box down in the basement now.

3) Favorite ice cream flavor? Publix has (or used to have) a specialty flavor for Valentine's Day that was raspberry ice cream with chocolate chips and raspberry filled chocolate hearts. I can't remember the name of it, though.
4) What celebrity do you think would be a great date? What celebrity do you think would be a lousy date? Good date -- Jason Segal. Bad date -- Nicholas Cage.
5) When has a lie come back to bite you? In the summer between my 8th & 9th grade years, my mom signed me up for summer basketball camp. I know I never expressed any interest in it so I have no idea why she did it. I absolutely hated it. My parents didn't know that there was a scrimmage on the Saturday after the last day of camp. I never told them. Unfortunately the coach called my parents at some point that afternoon asking why I wasn't there. I'm still mad about that. I absolutely sucked at basketball (and still do). I highly doubt my presence was missed by any of the other campers.
6) Did you ever let your sibling take the blame for something you did? Do tell. Hmmmm... nothing comes to mind. You should probably ask my sister. Obviously if something like that happened it wasn't significant enough for me to remember.
7) Who was your scariest teacher? Two come to mind -- my high school algebra teacher and my high school government teacher. Both were asses in their own way.
8) Favorite Hangout? Add me to the homebodies.
Jenn@Juggling Life -- I love the fact that you had a teacher named Dorothy Parker! Hah! I think THE Dorothy Parker would have been a hoot for a high school teacher. Probably a bit too acerbic for the elementary grades.
1) What is one item that you really should throw away, but probably never will? My husband's old sweatshirt from college (21 years old). It's worn, has a few holes in it, is almost see thru....but I love the comfort of it and the memories it envokes! College was a fun time!

5) When has a lie come back to bite you?
All my good answers are too personal to share.
6) Did you ever let your sibling take the blame for something you did? Do tell.
No, only got siblings via re-marriages once I was a teen, by then nothing any of us did wrong could really be blamed on anyone else.
7) Who was your scariest teacher?
She taught choir at my high school. We arguably had the best choir in the state, won all kinds of titles. She was a tyrant, though. My Uncle was a music teacher in a small town in the state & when he heard who my teacher was, he shuddered and said, "What an asshole." She really was. But she got great results! Once, when our regular piano accompaniest had to back out of playing for a concert, I volunteered to sit in during practice just so we could keep moving. I never thought she'd assign me to play AT the concert. I had serious stage fright when it came to my piano playing but all that was overshadowed by my fear of making a mistake during HER concert. I practiced that one song (42nd street) more than any other, probably ever. I played perfectly, too - out of sheer fear!
8) Favorite Hangout?
My living room w/the fam, or my bedroom with the fam. I'm very excited to have our backyard become our newest hangout. It's our first backyard and once it warms up a bit we'll be there until it gets cold in the fall.
1) What is one item that you really should throw away, but probably never will?
I have a blanket from an old boyfriend. My first love who was killed in a car accident about a month after I’d very painfully decided I must leave him for my second love (and now husband). 4) What celebrity do you think would be a great date? What celebrity do you think would be a lousy date?
Ryan Gosling would be great (Any guy who takes a stand in the street to stop a fight between two strangers is a gentleman in my book….ok, he’s hot, too.) Ricky Gervais would be lousy; just seems too arrogant and self-centered for my taste.
5) When has a lie come back to bite you?
I can’t think of a thing for this, likely because I am a total open-book, the lying thing just doesn’t work well for me.
6) Did you ever let your sibling take the blame for something you did? Do tell.
Also, can’t think of any instance, which is very surprising to me because I had an annoyingly cute/sweet little 6-year-old sister during my especially-awfully-awkward 13th year.
7) Who was your scariest teacher?
The scariest teacher was Ms. Hynes, until I actually had her in 5th grade and realized she was truly the greatest teacher that ever lived, but just looked really, really intimidating. She had eye-issues and would sometimes wear these huge, dark sunglasses even indoors…..super intimidating.

Not because of the religion thing, but because he just seems to have a huge ego.
